Glenda Abney Kliewer

Glenda Francis Kliewer, 79, died Monday (February 28, 2022) at the Paramount Community Living Center in Newton, Ks.

She was born on November 16, 1942, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the daughter of Glenn L. and Virginia Dixon Abney. The family later moved to Newton where Glenda graduated from Newton High School in 1960 and was Miss Newton. She later attended Emporia State College

She married John Lawrence Kliewer on December 18, 1984, in Marion. He died on October 4, 2010.

Through the years in Newton, Glenda operated a dance studio, was a librarian at the Public Library, later worked at J.C. Penny and Dillons before retiring.

Survivors include her daughter Virginia “Liz” Tafolla of Moore, Oklahoma; brother Robert Abney of Hesston; granddaughters Francie Hagar and Abbie Blessent; and great-grandchildren Harper, Remington, and Harvey Hagar.

Cremation has taken place with no services scheduled at this time.
