I didn't know Carol Jean had died. She and three other of us "Carols" went to McKinley Grade School together and since there were so many we all had to go by our middle names so it wasn't confusing. I will always be fond of the others, ie Carol Jean, Carol June, Carol Sue and myself, Carol Lee. Lots of fond memories of Carol Jean. I will miss her at the next reunion.

Carol Jean and I had long been friends even before we started school.  Our moms were friends and we went to the same church.   I have many fond memories with Carol Jean and Sandra Perry and Karen Dove; we went to one another's homes for slumber parties and many other fun occasions while growing up.  The last time I saw Carol Jean was 3 months before she died; it was at her mother's funeral in our church.  Carol Jean was very optimistic that she was going to "beat this cancer".  She had such a good attitude about this terminal  illness.  In the Summer of 2008, we lost three of our classmates within 2-3 months: Carol Jean, Linda (Alderson) Friesen and Judy (Claassen) Busenitz.   I miss Carol Jean; her lovely smile and the twinkle in her eyes when she saw someone she knew.
